Flack Message Boards
A few of the large genealogy sites run 'Message Boards' - where you can leave FLACK questions and hope someone sees the message and replies. They are often an excellent source of information.
Message Boards can be found at the following sites (in no particular order):-
- Ancestry.com A true Flack message board.
- Genealogy.com - Genforum A true Flack message board.
- Cambridgshire Surname list from GENUKI Certainly not a true Flack message board - but as the Cambridge area seems to be close to the Flack epicentre - then its not a bad place to register your Flack surname interest (or look for help).
- soc.genealogy.britain - This isn't actually a web message board (its a USENET NEWSGROUP)- but if you use 'internet explorer' then this is a FREE newsgroup which is VERY WELL used by UK researchers. It's UK 'general' as opposed to Flack 'specific' - but well worth a visit. If anyone wants a hand setting it up on your computer then just send me an email.

You can pay a lot of hard earned money for an HTML editor. Most professionals would say that Dreamweaver (at £350/$600) is the professional web-builders choice. Probably true (and I even have a copy myself) - but its a lot of money to spend out while your learning HTML and deciding how much of its faciities you will actually use. My advice for what its worth, is to try out one of the free ones (or all of the free ones) and see which one you like the feel of - then maybe upgrade to the full version when you know all the facilities you want. If you do actually feel you need a separate FTP program then look at WS_FTP LE (the free one is at bottom of the page) - but you need to be a student of (something/anything) to download it free. Anyway, as I said before, try a few free ones out - decide the extra facilities you want - then upgrade to the one that gives you what you want (but please DONT use Microsoft FrontPage as it produces the most convoluted and poor HTML you have ever seen) - Jim. |
