Virtue, 89, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, at Lena Living Center. She was born Jan. 30, 1920, in Stockton to William and Hazel (Whitson) Bowden. Leola married Sherman Virtue on July 5, 1940, at Lena Methodist Church, of which she was a member. She will be remembered as a good friend and neighbor and a wonderful wife and mother. Surviving are her husband, Sherman; six children, Patricia (Lee) Knapp of Dexter, Mich., David (Jeanne) Virtue of Overland Park, Kan., Thomas (Georgia) Virtue of Sterling, Susan Virtue of Lakewood, Colo., William (Geri) Virtue of Lakewood and Be tty Mason of Westminster, Colo.; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and two brothers. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at Lena United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Ben Rocke. Burial will be at Lena Burial Park.
