Agnes Banks, New South Wales Australia, is located on the uppermost northwest boundary of the City of Penrith. This locality is placed within two local government areas. The small village of Agnes Banks is within the Hawkesbury City Council Area. Agnes Banks is connected to Penrith by Castlereagh Road which runs alongside the Nepean River between Richmond and Penrith. The area was settled as early as 1804 by Andrew Thompson who leased his land out to tenant farmers on the gently undulating alluvial farmlands. Natural woodlands and sandy deposits make up the higher landscape of this area. Agnes Banks is a rural outpost of the City of Penrith which has kept its intrinsic agricultural value and rural lifestyle.

BIOGRAPHY: This website was created by one of the descendants of William Freeman and Mary Ann Williams of Agnes Banks. In 1838 Robert Williams purchased a farm known as Agnes Banks from Robert Martin. This farm consisted of 278 acres originally granted to Andrew Thompson. Robert died just over a year later and the land was divided into four sections in accordance with his will. The blocks were then given to his sons Thomas, John and Charles, with the fourth block given to Charlotte with the proviso that the land be passed onto their son George on her death. When George came into ownership of the land, he was living on the Namoi River and so subdivided the land into two sections. One of these sections he then rented to his brother-in-law William Freeman. William, Mary Ann and their children lived on the homestead until his death in 1881. Other names from surrounding areas mentioned on the website are Eather, Peisley, Lock, Cobcroft and Graham
