Notes - NOTES: There seems to be some discrepancy between the birth dates of Peter and brother David Halferty. ALL the census show them as NOT being twins - so no dispute there. But all the other family trees I have seen show Peter as have being born on 18 Sept 1854 !!
So looking at the Census years:-
1856 - Peter=4 ........................... David=1
1860 - Peter=6 ........................... David=5
1870 - Peter=16 ......................... David=14
1880 - Peter=?? ......................... David = 25
1885 - Peter=31
1895 - ........................................... David=39
1900 - Peter=47 (Sep 1852) .... David=46 (Mar 1854)
1910 - Peter=57 ......................... David=55
1920 - Peter=64 ......................... David=64
1930 - ........................................... David=75
I would be happy to accept the earlier census and especially the 1900 census which shows month and year - BUT - If Mary Wilson died on 29 April 1852 then Peter (born Sep 1852) cant be her child (I'm OK with that) - BUT - if Leah Teeter married James on 17 Feb 1853 then Peter must have been born out of wedlock (if Peters birth date of Sep 1852 is correct).
SO - lets consider if Peter was born Sep 1853 (enumerator worked out years wrong) - BUT - thats only 8 months after marriage. Its possible of course - BUT - if Davids birth date is correct (March 1854) then David was born only 7 months
after Peter. Possible again but much less likely.
Whatever the answer is - its quite confusing at the moment.
