• Notes

There were two Betsy Brown's baptised with a week of each other in 1857 in Lakenheath, one the daughter of William Brown and Mary Ann Rutterford, the other the daughter of William Brown and Mary Ann Hills. I have assumed that the Betsy Brown that married Thomas Flack was the daughter of William and Mary Ann Rutterford purely on the basis that they also had a daughter Susan who married a Flack and I have found that it is often the case that siblings in one family marry siblings or cousins in another. Being exactly the same age and both being daughters of William means that it is impossible to differentiate between the two Betsy's on the basis of Marriage records and the various censuses.
