Old Volunteer - Mr William Arthur Hatley, whose death occurred at the residence of her [sic] daughter (Mrs Flack) in Farmbridge Road, was 76, and started work over 60 years ago at Bentall's, Heybridge, where he became a much-respected clerk, For more than 50 years he was an officer of the AOF, Pride of Blackwater Court, and for 41 years Secretary. In his younger days he belonged to the old Maldon Volunteers as colour-serjeant. He leaves two sons and two daughters. .. Family Mourners were: Mrs E R Flack, Mr and Mrs W J Hatley, Mr and Mrs D Lane, and Mr L Hatley, sons and daughters, sons-in-law and daughters-in-law. - [S1339] National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations), 1950.
