    • William Broughton, who arrived on the First Fleet as a servant of Surgeon White.
      1789 he was appointed storekeeper at Parramatta.
      1793 He was granted land - 30 acres at Concord.
      1795 - 25 acres at Field of Mars
      1800 Deputy Commissioner Norfolk Island
      1801 Commissioner Norfolk Island

      The first local land grant at Appin in 1811 was made that year to Deputy Commissary General William Broughton. He called his 1000 acres Lachlan Vale after Governor Lachlan Macquarie
